“When I handed over my manuscript to Jennifer, I knew there were parts of my story that weren't quite right, but I didn't know why. She spotted every problem and directed me toward a fix. She was key to making my book so much better than I thought it could be. Working with Jennifer made me a better writer.”

"I had three books proofread back to back with this editor. She was consistent, detailed, and caught a lot of surprising things that had slipped by multiple editors and readers over the years. Friendly communication and always on time. I've already booked my next project with her!"

“Discovering an editor who is the model of professionalism and who also “gets” your voice is both a privilege and a pleasure. I found that exact experience with Jennifer as she brought her skills to work polishing the books of my Players series. Of course, it helps that she’s a rocking football fan, which only makes me love her even more as I look forward to a long and fruitful relationship full of future projects.”

“Jenn is, in my view, the ideal editor: sharp-eyed, constructive, conscious to preserve an author's voice and, perhaps most importantly, never hesitant to offer positive feedback — a balm for the author's sensitive soul during the editing process! In particular Jenn has helped me with writing internal conflict, to the point I can see a marked improvement across the three manuscripts we've worked on together. I would wholeheartedly recommend her, especially for authors looking for nuanced, thoughtful editorial input.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Jennifer Herrington on a book series with Kensington and she was the best. Friendly, prompt, approachable, and knowledgeable. Most of all, she got me as a writer. Really got me, and that's hard to find in this market. She never messed with my voice, was gentle in criticisms, and was vocal on praise. I couldn't recommend her more.”

Author of the Redwood Ridge series

Maggie Dallen

“I couldn't have asked for a better editor. She has an excellent grasp of story arcs, plot beats, and what makes a novel work. With every book she has helped me to flesh out the characters and to heighten the tension and conflict to ensure the story is as fully developed as it can be. She has an innate knack for pointing toward areas that need help—giving helpful suggestions without telling the author what to do. More than anything, I continue to learn and grow as an author thanks to Jennifer's guidance and input.”

I am typically booked out three to four months in advance, so if there is a specific date you’d like to target, I recommend reaching out as soon as possible. Please note that I do require a deposit of 20% to secure your date.

The answer is maybe. The manuscript doesn’t need to be a romance; it could have light romantic elements instead. I am also open to working on middle-grade, young-adult, or new-adult projects. If your manuscript is poetry, non-fiction, horror, science fiction, history, or a picture book, I’m not the best fit for this project.

It depends on the shape of the manuscript and what editorial service you are looking for. It can take anywhere from one week to three weeks. I like to ensure that I have time to focus on your manuscript.
